News - November 2011 ![]() We, the creative thorps, have moved, to Pembrokeshire – the source of our inspiration and joy in recent years and we are settling into our little cottage near the Preseli Hills. Over the next few months we will be working on new ventures and ideas – and on our new home-to-be: a converted stone and brick granary on an old farm hamlet a few short miles from our favourite beach – Newgale. Autumn in Pembrokeshire is special. The skies are spectacular – clouds are edged in gold and the dying sun paints the sky red before dying below the horizon. This weekend we drove to Manorbier. The sky was clear and the waves glassy. Lying in the water looking inland I could see a picture postcard landscape – the headlands and beach with a stream trickling through; the castle and the valley beyond. This is why we came here, for days like these when the colours and the cold ocean wakes you to a more gentle way of being. We’ve got plans. A new website for the new year; new products and collaborations. But for the time being we are being inspired. In the meantime, you can find all our cards, boxes and poetry on the creative thorp website as usual – and you can buy them in the online shop. |

Environmental practices and supplies
We know that our products are the sorts of gifts that people like to treasure and keep. However we are aware that paper products have an impact on the environment, so we are always trying to source materials that are as sustainable as possible, and run our business with a low 'green footprint'. Currently, in most of our cards, booklets and gifts, we use Callisto Pearl supplied by GF Smith. Manufactured from FCS accredited pulp, an added 'green' bonus for this board is in 'carbon miles' with a distance of only 130 miles from the mill in Cumbria to GF Smith's warehouse in Hull. In addition the boxes used for our art card box ranges are produced using 70% recycled 450 micron board, and sourced from the Bag and Box Man near our home in Banbury. Both these companies have clear environmental policies that recognise the importance of sustainability and reducing waste. We also do some other things including recycling packaging materials we receive to send out our orders - this might result in some odd shaped packages, but every little helps! And we are looking to replace our cello bags and adhesives with more sustainable products. |
